The Dar Ramani Huria project has mapped 29 neighbourhoods (known as wards) in Dar Es Salaam. These wards were selected because they encompass the most flood prone areas of the city. Data collected with the help of community members and local university students has been used to create detailed maps of these areas using OpenStreetMap. These maps are now being used for disaster planning and response and are also available to the communities themselves for further use and development. You can read more about our work in each of the focus wards by following the links.
