Description and recommendations: | Large parts of Magomeni are at risk of flooding, especially the areas near the river Ng’ombe and the Msimbazi river. A large portion of Suna subward is particularly at risk due to it being intersected by these two rivers in its northern and eastern areas. Insufficient drain capacity, unprotected river banks, and unplanned construction along the river valley are the main factors that lead to flooding in these areas. Large water volumes carrying solid waste from upstream parts of Dar es Salaam are deposited here, and due to this accumulation of waste along the river, there are serious health concerns for those living in the affected areas in Magomeni. |
