Sinza is an administrative ward near the Ubungo district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. According to the 2002 census, the ward has a total population of 36,469. Sinza consists of five subward including Sinza A, Sinza B, Sinza C, Sinza D, and Sinza E.

Sinza is among the planed areas of the city but normally experience flooding due to disrupted and blocked drains, also many rods of Sinza do not have drain channels leading to flash floods. Sinza also experiences fluvial floods due to the flooding of river Ng’ombe, mainly in Sinza E subward.

Ramani Huria team facilitated community meetings in Sinza ward for the aim of identifying important assets and the associated risks so that ward leaders can use those maps to prepare disaster management plans and other uses such as damage assessment, flood response and the like. The maps were shared back with the community leaders followed by training on how the maps can be used to plan and respond to floods.
