Pugu is a Tanzanian town close to Kisarawe, about 20 km south-west of Dar es Salaam. It is an administrative ward of the Ilala District, in the Dar es Salaam Region. At the 2002 census, the ward had a total population of 14,652. Pugu has five subwards including Pugu, Bombani, Kinyamwezi, Mustafa, Kigogo Fresh A, and Kigogo Fresh B.

Pugu is also in the upper catchment of Msimazi river, making it susceptible to flooding. Ramani Huria team sat with the community members of Pugu ward to identify important assets in the ward and the flood risks associated so they can have enough data when planning for disaster management in the ward.
