Gongo la Mboto is an administrative ward of Ilala district in Dar es salaam region. According to the 2012 census, The ward had a population of 57,312. The ward consists of four (4) subwards including Guluka Kwalala, Ulongoni A, Ulongoni B, and Gongo la Mboto. Gongo la Mboto is located in the western part of the city and the major flooding river in the city (Msimbazi), passes through the ward. There is a bridge in Ulongoni subward which overflows resulting in flooding and loss of lives.
The Ramani Huria team conducted community meetings in these subwards so as to identify areas of risk and important things that community members want to protect. The maps were produced and shared back to the communities followed by a training on how they can use the maps for disaster preparedness
